ITINERARY

Day 1 – From Entebbe to Kampala along Lake Victoria

On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda you will recognize our representative by DJ dress code for a welcome drink. Drive for an overnight stay at the Emin Pasha Hotel in Kampala, the place of heaven. BB

Emin Pasha Hotel ****

Located right near the city centre, the hotel is set in two acres of peaceful park-like tropical gardens. Big mature trees, flowering shrubs and scented vines abound. Admire the African and Swahili style of the private cottages and the ambience of the old age as you are received by the personnel in typical traditional costumes. Take your time and go for massage or enjoy a cold drink from the gardens’ bar.

Day 2 – The magic of Murchison Falls

Relax from the verandah of the Emin Pasha as you enjoy a royal breakfast. The guide will give you a short briefing before leaving northwards to Murchison Falls National Park. This is the largest national park of Uganda with more than 3800 sq km. It hosts a variety of sceneries, from tropical forests, savannah plains covered with palms and, moreover, the wild beauty of river Nile which bisects the park from East to West. The first stop over of the day is the small rhinos reserve “Ziwa”, before arriving in Masindi town. Enjoy viewing the rhinos, which in future will be repopulated into the national park, where they had disappeared since the 1970s. The “top of the falls” of Murchison is one of the most romantic places in Africa. The mighty 50 metre wide Victoria Nile squeezes through a six metre rocky canyon dropping 43 metres downstream. You view this spectacular panorama. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight at the lodge, Nile Safari Lodge, overlooking the river Nile. Full Board

Day 3 – Murchison Falls National Park

After a cup of coffee, go for the exploration of the magnificent savannah up to the delta of river Nile into Lake Albert. The area is rich in animals, from the elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions and different species of antelopes. Enjoy some tea and breakfast in the wilderness. Return to the lodge for relax and lunch. In the afternoon we suggest the excursion by boat on river Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. This is an experience of nature, as you observe the water birds from the bank of the river, the hippos and huge number of crocodiles. The guide will help you to spot the different species and it is recommended a good binocular and a good camera. Dinner and overnight at the lodge, Nile Safari Lodge. Full Board

Day 4 – Descending the Albertine Rift Valley along Lake Albert

After your last Nile breakfast, your journey proceeds descending southwest along the Lake Albert and Rift Valley escarpment, which offer a lot of sceneries and viewpoints. You pass via Hoima the capital town of ancient Bunyoro kingdom and through sugarcane, tea, banana, coffee and cocoa plantations. Lunch en route.

Arrive in Fort Portal, the capital town of the Tooro kingdom. This area is characterized by colored gardens, evergreen tea and banana plantations, picture perfect crater lakes like Lake Saka and idyllic streams. The Mountains of the Moon Hotel is an oasis of peace overlooking the Rwenzori. This will be your pit stop for the night after a long transfer, but full of emotions. Full Board.

Day 5 – Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast on the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Katara Lodge is set in a prominent location on the edge of the Albertine Rift Valley escarpment, overlooking the open savannah and Maramagambo forest of Queen Elizabeth. From open savannah to rainforest, from dense papyrus swamps and brooding crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward, it is little wonder that Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game reserve in the world. Almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species makes this superb safari territory, with elephant, a profusion of hippos, the elusive giant forest hog and handsome Uganda kob all regularly sighted. Katara is one of the most charming and characteristic lodges in Uganda. Katara means “lamps” and you will be captivated by the atmosphere.

Day 6 – Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, have a very interesting walk down the Kyambura Gorge, beautiful scenery, where you will search for the chimpanzees and other monkeys. Go back for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon have an exciting excursion by boat from Mweya peninsula along Kazinga channel, one of the most popular sites in Uganda for its concentration of wildlife, bird life and opportunities for good photographs. Dinner and overnight stay at Katara Lodge. Full Board.

Day 7 – Ishasha - Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, proceed to Lake Bunyonyi in Southwest of Uganda. You will leave the Northern sector of Queen Elizabeth and head southwards, through the remote Ishasha Sector of the park, the natural migration corridor between Uganda and Congo. The concentration of game animals is high, especially the elephants, the antelope topi, buffalo. However, the area is known for the frequency of sighting the so called tree climbing lions, peacefully relaxing over the figs trees. Pic nic lunch will be arranged in the savannah. In the afternoon arrive in Lake Bunyonyi where you board the boat through the lake up to Habuharo Island at Heritage Lodge. Dinner and overnight. Full Board

Located on the tranquil waters of Lake Bunyonyi, the lodge has well-spaced, self-contained tents and cottages, all furnished with comfortable beds located in wooded seclusion overlooking the lake.

Day 8 – The Virunga volcanoes in the mist

After breakfast, enjoy one of the most extraordinary wildlife and birding experience by boat. The forested green islands on the lake are home to different species of endemic birds which the guide will help you to spot. Have Lunch and in the afternoon follow the shadow of misty Virunga Volcanoes at the border between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Volcano Muhavura indicates the last territory of Uganda and the starting of the ancient tropical forest of Virunga, historical home to the mountain gorillas. After crossing the border of Rwanda, arrive in Volcanoes National park. This is the place where Dian Fossey in the 1970s was conducting the battle for the conservation of mountain gorillas against poaching, against the destruction of the forest for farming and against the local authorities, but with an increasing international support. Day 9- Mountain gorilla safari

Experience a rejuvenating morning in the rain tropical forest of Bwindi for a gorilla safari. This is a guided group activity which starts at 8am with each group comprising a maximum of 8 people.

Looking deep into the expressive brown eyes of these gentle giants is surely the most exciting and poignant wildlife encounter that Africa has to offer. The park hosts other species of primates, including the endemic golden monkeys, an endangered species.

Ensure you take the packed lunch and water with you in the bag and for this you might need the support of available porters.

In the afternoon, after the activities, we suggest you transfer to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. Enjoy the service and comfort of Kivu Serena Hotel, its private beach and view over the lake. Celebrate the encounter with the gorillas and have a special dinner. Full Board

Day 10 – Lake Kivu – Nyungwe Forest

After breakfast, today’s program is a journey through the country of the “thousand hills”, from North to South at Nyungwe National Park. The road is panoramic with all the tea and banana plantations, the coast along Lake Kivu, the children of Rwanda walking aside and typical mountain villages. Lunch during the transfer. Arrive by evening in the tropical forest of Nyungwe. With more than 1000 sq km this is one of the most intact ancient forests in Africa, a real natural lung where your senses will be fully activated. There is no better and peaceful place to be as Nyungwe Forest Lodge. The swimming pool and bar overlooking the forest is one of the amenities you cannot miss. Day 11 – Nyungwe Forest National Park

Today’s activity is the encounter with the deep tropical forest and with our closest related great ape, the chimpanzee. This requires an early start by 6 in the morning. Follow the rangers along the forest trails and off track. There are 13 species of primates in Nyungwe: the chimpanzees (more than 1000 recorded), the Rwenzori colobus, L’Hoest monkey, the silver monkey, the owl faced monkey, the red tailed monkey, mona monkey, vervet monkey, olive baboon, grey cheeked mangabey. In the late morning you go back to the lodge for resting and for lunch. In the afternoon you are free to enjoy the beauty of the atmosphere and breathing the deed green of Nyungwe. Surely this day will give you for loong sweet dreams. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge. Full Board

Day 12 – Finally Lake Tanganyika

After breakfast, depart from Nyungwe to the border with Burundi along river Rusizi. It takes only few hours drive to arrive in Bujumbura on Lake Tanganyika. This is the coronation of your honeymoon: the most peaceful and beautiful sandy beach, the green and transparent water.

Day 13 – Lake Tanganyika

After breakfast, take your time and relax on the beach. Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika is just offering everything you might need: the beach, swimming pool, tennis courts, wireless internet connections, bar and restaurant 24hr service, Sauna, gym and massage, nightclub, shuttle services.

The Hotel is located just 5 minutes from downtown Bujumbura and from the Bujumbura International Airport. Hotel Club du Lac is the first and largest touristic spot in the country. It offers green and sunny surroundings alongside Lake Tanganyika, where you can choose between a walk in its park grounds or a rest on the white sandy beaches, or admire colorful sunsets. Their rooms are also air conditioned and provided with internet connection.

Day 14 – Departure

Today reserved for the transfer to Bujumbura International Airport for your departure. In alternative, it is possible to arrange shuttle connection to Kigali International Airport, according to your flight availability.

DJ – Sounds of the Jungle

Tips that go a long way in making your honeymoon the most enjoyable and memorable experience:

1. Always to book a double bed room in the hotel.
   You may laugh, but it's important when reserving hotels, especially abroad, and crucial if you are going on a cruise.
2. Avoid making reservations for an early departure the morning after your wedding.
   If you're planning an evening reception, you can be sure you're not going to bed early on your wedding night. A later flight or train reservation may save you from walking bleary-eyed through the airport or the railway station.
3. Don't skimp on your accommodations.
   Maybe on other trips, but not a honeymoon. The ambience of your accommodation could be the single most important aspect of your honeymoon trip as most of the couples tend to spend maximum time there. Even if you think you won't spend much time in your room, you'll be sorry if your accommodations are not special.
4. Set a honeymoon budget before you go, agree about what you'll splurge on and where you'll skimp to avoid any possible money hassles en route.
5. Both of you should be involved in planning.
   After all, this honeymoon is for both of you. If one of you does all the work, he/she'll feel guilty if things don't go perfectly. If you don't take part in the planning, you'll probably end up dissatisfied.
6. Don't ignore cost-saving travel packages.
   Talk to a travel agent. Many packages will allow you to have all the frills you want...and save you money.
7. Plan to spend some time away from each other doing separate things.
   You'll both be happier if you plan one or two separate activities on your honeymoon....and think how much fun you'll have sharing your experiences with each other.
8. Don't keep mum about being honeymooners.
   Don't be bashful...especially with hotels, cruise lines, restaurants...Tell them when you make your reservations and you're likely to enjoy special treatment.
9. Don't rely too much on friends and family.
   Ask for recommendations from friends and family, but don't let yourselves be overly influenced. Do your own thing. It's your honeymoon after all.
