Rwanda Coffee & Tea tour, Nyungwe National Park
Today we organize the city tour of Kigali. The capital town of Rwanda is found at an altitude of about 1800 meters above sea level and it is spread along various hills making the different local areas. You can visit the Genocide Memorial of Gisozi, the Camp Kigali, the Natural History Museum. Moreover, there are interesting traditional local markets, like in Muhima or the Caplaki center. In the morning we visit Abahuzamugambi cooperative in Maraba, Fair Trade certified. With over 1300 members, of whom 40% are women, the cooperative is operating in the region of the Arabica Borbon quality coffee. Coffee is one of the main agricultural export earning in Rwanda and the experience of seeing how it is cultivated and to talk to the producers will add value to your trip. nLunch and in the afternoon (optional) visit Murambi genocide memorial. Proceed to Nyungwe National Park, a forest of about 1020 sq km, the largest mountain tropical forest in East Africa. Nyungwe is home to up to 13 species of primates, like the chimpanzees (over 500), Rwenzori colobus, Angolan colobus, L’Hoest monkey, silver monkey, owl faced monkey, red tailed monkey, velvet monkey and baboons. After early breakfast, you will enter Nyungwe Forest for the chimpanzee trekking and / or other primates, like Angolan colobus. There are two available ecotourism sites for the activity: Uwinka entry point or Cyamudongo forest, which is still part of Nyungwe National Park. nLunch at the lodge. In the afternoon optional activity, like the canopy walk, which is a good experience for observing the forest and bird species or another short walk in the forest, to be chosen among different trails.n

After breakfast, we organize a guided visit to the tea plantations of Kitabi Tea Company. The enterprise includes the tea plantations, the tea processing plant and a forested area along the boundary with Nyungwe. Particularly, there are 800 hectares of tea plantation of the enterprise, while other 850 hectares of tea are cultivated by private farmers organized in the Cobacyamu cooperative society. This experience will allow you to see closely the cultivation and processing of tea, one of the major exports of Rwanda.

After breakfast, drive back to Kigali. In Huye you can visit the National Museum. Then a stop over is made in Nyanza to visit the Royal palace, entirely reconstructed but with original and antique pieces of art and furniture belonging to the Mwami, the king. nLater reserved for the transfer to Kigali International Airport.
