Destination Jungle offers the opportunity to extend your staying in this region, by adding a volunteering experience with local communities after or before your tourist program.

Volunteering with Childrens’ Farm.

Destination Jungle and VOLSFAN are conducting tailored visits where interested clients or visitors get to visit the orphanage Childrens’ Farm in Bukomeru and spend time in the village and with the children as a means of helping support the project and also deepening their travel experience. If you wish to donate clothes or any other contribution, you can do it directly.

The Childrens’ Farm has the possibility to host small numbers of guests.

Volunteering with Association Friends of Africa.

Since 1973 a catholic mission supported by the Diocesis of Varese in Italy has started its humanitarian intervention in the poor region of Murayi, in Burundi not far from Gitega town. In 2010 one of the results of this work is the factory for the production of avocado oil, basically one of the few factories in Burundi up today. Leader of this initiative is Mr. Renato Iametti, who dedicated himself and his life for coordinating this project, which is creating new job opportunities and new ideas for agricultural products market, through the utilization of the avocados. Avocado oil, through not much known as alimentary oil, is a good remedy against cholesterol and diabetes. The mission has the possibility to host guests in the Guest House. In 2011 it is ongoing the realization of socially needed infrastructures, like the entertainment centre, the clinic, public facilities for the poor. Volunteers for short periods are welcome.
