DJ UGANDA SAFARI 7 Days 6 Night – Tour Code DJU09
Kidepo Valley and secrets of Karamoja

Day 1– The Nile and Mount Elgon
Early morning leave Kampala to Jinja where is found the source of the river Nile from lake Victoria.
Recommended Optional rafting on the Nile: we recommend this unique, extraordinary experience of exploration of river Nile upstream for about 31 Km for one day activity. On board of the boat, you will paddle and rest on the calm water of the river, while enjoying the rapids and landscapes. This is one of the most exciting rafting in the world, also a very safe one, with disposals of life jackets and qualified guides and rescue team. People without experience should not fear rafting, since experience is not required, but the will to have fun and adventure.

If rafting is not your choice, you might reach Mbale earlier and organize your time while meeting the Bakisu people, the producers of Bugisu best quality coffee and their cultivations. You arrive for dinner and overnight at Sipi at Lacam Lodge or similar. FB

Day 2 – Sipi Falls / Moroto
Early morning you go for the trekking through the Sipi Falls from Mount Elgon. The vegetation is superb with banana and coffee plantations and view of the Karamoja valley. Lunch. Proceed the journey to Moroto through Namalu and entering the Karamoja region and its semi-arid land. Dinner and overnight at Leslona Hotel in Moroto. FB

Day 3 – Moroto in Karamoja
After breakfast you spend the day to encounter and discover the culture and people of Karamoja through the facilitation of local cooperation projects. In the morning you visit Lopotuk villages and the dispensary. Lunch. In the afternoon meet the youth of the youth centre and you can request to assist local performances, music and dance. This is not a “touristic” activity, since this area was never interested by any tourist circuit. Dinner and overnight at Leslona Hotel in Moroto. FB

Day 4 – Kidepo Valley National Park
After breakfast, the trip proceeds Northwards via Kaabong and Kotido to reach Kidepo Valley National Park. This is named after the river traversing this region at the border between Sudan and Kenya, region characterized by mountains, hills and savannah. This is one of the most unspoilt and wild places remaining in Africa. Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at UWA bandas. The place is modest but comfortable, with hot water and flash toilets available. Mostly, the touch and immersion in the nature of the park is a guarantee. FB

The bird list boasts over 465 species. A part from the game drive, on request you might organize a visit to the local Karimojong homestead or “manyattas”. Full board and overnight at UWA bandas. FB
